MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court on Wednesday asked Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan to submit documents regarding the ownership of his bungalow Mannat here and those pertaining to structures he had built on a plot adjacent to it.

The court's direction came in response to a PIL filed by the NGO Bhrashtachar Nirmulan Sanghatana.

The court had earlier dismissed another PIL that raised the same issue but the NGO claimed it was challenging the construction on different grounds.

Its main contention is that the construction blocks a motorable road along Mannat that links Bhabha Road and Mount Mary Road in suburban Bandra, which had been marked on the development plan.

The NGO also argued that the plot in question was reserved for an art gallery but the reservation was "illegally" vacated by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) in 2003.

A division bench of Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice S C Dharmadhikari directed Khan's lawyer to submit the documents pertaining to his title to the plot, sanction for the construction and de-reservation of the plot in two weeks.

According to the NGO's counsel Shakuntala Joshi, a road existed adjacent to Mannat that was used by the public.

However, when MCGM approved the plan for construction on the adjacent plot, this 9.15-metre road was not shown on the map at all.
