Abhishek Bachchan Biography
Abhishek is the son of Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan and renowned actress and Samajwadi Party MP in Rajya Sabha, Jaya Bachchan. He was born on 5 February 1976, in Mumbai. He did his schooling at Bombay Scottish School, Modern School (New Delhi) and also went to Aiglon College in Switzerland. He then went to the United States to complete his education at Boston University. He did not finish his business degree as he chose to pursue an acting career.
His grandfather, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was a well-known poet of Urdu and Hindi. The original last name of the family is "Srivastava"; "Bachchan" was in fact a pen name used by his grandfather. However, when his father Amitabh Bachchan entered films, he did so under his father's pen name. Now he is never known as anything but Abhishek Bachchan.

Mani Ratnam's Guru is his another recent film. Guru's lead actors are Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Mithun Chakraborty and Vidya Balan. Surya dubs for Abhishek in the Tamil version. It is being produced in Hindi and Tamil simultaneously.
Drona is his latest film. Drona will be the first Hindi film to feature Abhishek Bachchan alongside his mother Jaya Bachchan on-screen. The film is directed by one of Abhishek's childhood friends, Goldie Behl. Behl, who is married to Sonali Bendre, made his directorial debut with Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai, starring Abhishek. Drona also stars Priyanka Chopra. Indian actress Priyanka Chopra was voted Sexiest Asian Woman of 2006.
Abhishek Bachchan Personal Life
Abhishek Bachchan was earlier engaged to Karisma Kapoor. The couple announced their engagement on Amitabh Bachchan's 60th birthday celebration in October 2002. The engagement was called off in January 2003.
Gossip columnists have linked Abhishek to many industry figures, but he strongly denied most rumours of romance. In 2005, Abhishek dated Indian model, Dipannita Sharma. A year later, news surfaced that the couple had broken up and Bachchan began dating Aishwarya Rai - his co-star in several movies.
After much speculation concerning their relationship, his engagement to Aishwarya Rai was announced on January 14, 2007. The announcement was later confirmed by Amitabh Bachchan.
Abhishek married Aishwarya on April 20, 2007 according to traditional Hindu rites of the South Indian Bunt community, to which his wife belongs. Token North Indian and Bengali ceremonies were also performed. The wedding took place in a private ceremony at the Bachchan residence Prateeksha in Juhu, Mumbai. Though the wedding was a private affair intended for the Bachchan and Rai family and friends, the involvement of the media made it a national extravaganza.
