Ankitha was a former child artiste in the Rasna ad and was subsequently dubbed as the “Rasna baby” as a youngster. Her breakthrough in films came through Simhadri starring NTR Jr. The film went on to become one of the biggest hits in the career of NTR. Her next big budget film Vijayendra Varma with Balakrishna was a colossal failure. During the shoot of Manasu Maata Vinadhu in 2004, Ankitha fell out with co-star Navdeep prompting the film to be delayed. It was reported that during a song shoot in Mauritius, Navdeep had made indecent proposals towards Ankitha asking her for sex, which prompted her to slap him. The pair later put aside their differences, with reports suggesting that Ankitha was paid a bonus amount to not talk about the incident. The film however won poor reviews and became a box office failure.
In 2005, she appeared in back-to-back Tamil films directed by Sundar C, featuring alongside Prashanth in London and then in Thaka Thimi Tha with newcomer Yuvakrishna. Both films gained average reviews and performed poorly at the box office.
She has been paired opposite Kadhal Seiyya Virumbu fame Santosh for a movie titled Sri Ranga.
