Dia Mirza Biography
Dia Mirza was born 9 in December 1981 in Hyderabad,Andhra Pradesh, India. Sometimes her name is spelled as Diya Mirza also. Her father is a German Designer and mother Bengali named Deepa Mirza. Her parents were separated when she was six years old. When the former Miss Asia Pacific was six years old, her Bengali mother and German father, Frank Handrich, filed for divorce. After the latter's demise, Dia's mom remarried Ahmed Mirza and the petite actress adopted her step-dad's surname, Mirza. That is how Dia Mirza got her surname Mirza. Though she has been brought up in a Muslim household, she does not consider herself a Muslim. She worishs Hindu deity Ganesha.
Dia Mirza attended Vidyaranya High School For Boys And Girls and Hyderabad, a school based on the teachings of Krishnamurti, and later Nasr School, in Kushnuma. Currently she is put up at Mumbai.
Just befor her dubet film she took a one week crash acting course at NewYork University. However Dia could not completed her graduation in Arts as she became more bussy with work. by correspondence, but decided to postpone it as it was becoming difficult to juggle between the Miss Asia Pacific Competition, modeling assignments, traveling and training.

Dia Mirza's debut film is Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein opposite R. Madhavan. The film was not a box office success. A series of unsuccessful films followed, among them Tumsa Nahin Dekha and Deewaanapan. In Tumsa Nahin Dekha, Dia Mirza is playing the role of a stripper. But Diya dismisses the rumor that the movie is a soft-porn. She goes on to say that there is not even a single stripping scene in the film. The only bold scene in the film shows Dia Mirza kissing her co-star Emraan Hashmi.
In 2005, Mirza appeared in Parineeta, a Vidhu Vinod Chopra production. In 2006 she teamed up once again with Chopra and Sanjay Dutt for the successful film Lage Raho Munna Bhai. She also played in the music video Kajara Mohabbat Wala from Sonu Nigam album Kajara Nite. She has also appeared in Dus and in Fight Club. She will appear later this year in Familywala and Naa Naa Karte.
