Katrina Kaif Biography
Katrina Kaif was born on July 16, 1983 in Hong Kong. Katrina's father is an NRI from Kashmir and her mother English. She grew up in Hawaii along with her 7 sisters. This Bollywood damsel first modeling assignment came at the age of 14 for a jewellery campaign. With her gorgeous face and hourglass figure, Katrina Kaif was flooded with modeling assignments in Mumbai.
When moving to India, she worked for photographer Atul Kasbekar and did commercials for Fevicol, Lakme cosmetics and Veet among others. This Bollywood damsel started modeling from the age of 14 and gave her first flop in 'Boom'; her debut movie!
Katrina Kaif debuted in Kaizad Gustad's Boom, which featured her as a supermodel. Though the movie was panned by the critics and shunned by the audiences, it did declare that Katrina is here to stay. After a slow start, Katrina is finding her feet in Bollywood with some top of the line projects. She is very daring and willing to expose if script demnds.
She did Recent successes like ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya’ have put her on the road to big things. She has done two Telugu movies - Malliswari(2004) and Allari Pidugu(2005). In 2005 she starred in Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya opposite Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen and had a role in Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar. In 2006, she debuted in Malayalam Cinema through the Mammootty starrer Balram v/s Tharadas. Katrina's recent film Humko Deewana Kar Gaye starring Akshay Kumar won her decent reviews for her performance in the film.
Katrina Kaif cannot speak fluent Hindi. Her voice is also being dubbed by another actress, due to her unfamiliarity with Hindi. She will be using her own voice in her next film. Initially, filmmakers were hesitant to sign her because of her linguistic shortcomings. Katrina Kaif was even signed for Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Saaya’ but later dropped from the project due to her poor Hindi. However things are changing now, she has been brushing up her Hindi diction, has for the very first time dubbed her own dialogues in Vipul Shah’s movie Namaste London. ‘Namaste London’ is an Indo-British film, where Katrina plays the role of a young NRI girl. She also had to lose some extra kilos from her body for the role.
She is currently dating Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan. Rumours are rife that Salman Khan is keen to tie the knot with Katrina Kaif, but there are also rumours that all is not well in the Salman – Katrina paradise. Salman is touching 40 and now keen to tie the knot, the 20-something Katrina is reportedly not so keen to enter matrimony now. Katrina Kaif with boyfriend Salman Khan, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, fared well at the box office. Katrina has stood by Salman through all his trials and travails; however it is now being rumoured that Katrina and Salman are having some problems in their relationship.
