Kavya Madhavan Biography

Kavya Madhavan hails from the remote village of Neeleswaram in Kasargod district. She is the daughter of P.Madhavan and Shyamala(birth 19th September 1984), she has a brother named Mithun. Neeleswaram retains its rural identity, and Kavya also. Her dialect is unpolluted. It has a charm and innocence of the region. She had entered the filmdom as a child artist. Her first movie is considered as "Pookkalam Varavayi".

It was when she was a ninth standard student that a character came in search of her. Kavya Madhavan has now grown in to most the busiest female star in Malayalam. Her recent hits are Oomappenninu Uriyaadappayyan and Meesa Madhavan. She is equally accepted in Tamil also. Kasi her first film in Tamil became a successful film. Her second Tamil film En Manavathil is ready for release. She has recently shifted her residence to Cochin.

She appeared in as a collega student in Classmate directed by Lal Jose. Classmate was the biggest hit of 2006. Kavya Madhavan's latest film is Annorikkal directed by Sharad Chandra Vayanad. In this movie she is playig opposite Sunil and this film is done mainly at Ernakulam.

Kavya Madhavan has several awards to show as fine point of her acting. Some of the hits are 'Oomappenninu Uriyaadappayyan' and 'Meesa Madhavan'. 'En Manavathil' is tamil version of 'Oomappenninu Uriyaadappayyan'. Kavya Madhavan went to a deaf and dumb school, and observed them communicating in sign language. Then she saw the film Koshish in Hindi. Kavya Madhavan had prepared myself for the role meticulously. She was more at ease to play the same role at the second time in the tamil version. Both critics and viewers complemented the performance. As she was not not required to converse, there was no Language problem also in Tamil version. She has just won the Kerala Government's best actress award for a soulful portrayal as a widowed girl in Kamal's ‘Perumazhakkalam’. Incidentally she shares the award with Geetu Mohandas. When enquired about her education, Kavya Madhavan replied that, she has completed as a plus two student in humanities with the Open University. She missed several exams due to tight shooting schedule of various film projects that came continuously. Kavya Madhavan has only a tiny ambition. That is to become a graduate. So I am not quitting my studies.
