It is learned that Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn are not dating anymore. The Iron Man 2 actress and the Mystic River star were have been a high profile couple in recent months, most notably when they were pictured holding hands at a White House Correspondents’ dinner in Washington, D.C., in April.
The couple, who have a 24 year age gap between them, made headlines when they were first spotted holidaying together in Cabo San Lucas after a flirty lunch date in Los Angeles.
They attended a White House Correspondents’ Dinner party in Washington in April, and were seen together in LA.
Scarlett Johansson initially struck up a friendship with Sean – who divorced wife Robin Wright in 2010 after 13 years together – when she was considering flying to Haiti to help people affected by the two earthquakes in January 2010.
A source explained: “Scarlett first reached out to Sean when she was planning to visit Haiti with Oxfam. She knew Sean was living there in a tent and turned to him for advice.”
Although Scarlett wasn’t able to make the trip, the couple started dating and made their first public appearance together at the wedding of Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth in March.
Speculation about the pair’s break-up intensifed after Scarlett, 26, didn’t attend the Cannes Film Festival with the 50-year-old actor for his latest film, The Tree Of Life.
It is thought that she has been busy working on The Avengers in New Mexico, where she reprises her role as Black Widow from Iron Man 2.
Spokespeople for both actors declined to comment.
