Shahrukh Khan - I Would Go To US to Drink Pepsi

“I Would Go To US to Drink Pepsi,” says SRK “If Pepsi is banned in India, I would go to the US and drink it,” says the Superstar Shahrukh Khan. He was with the the media personnel at a press conference as a Watch Company’s brand ambassador. “My intention is not to defend the brand I endorse. But I would like to ask the agency (which tested the soft drink for pesticides) whether they have analysed, how safe is the water we drink or if mother’s milk also contains harmful chemicals?”

The actor admitted that he still drinks Pepsi despite the controversy and knows many others who do so. According to Badshah Khan, neither the people who are pulling down hoardings nor the faces on those hoardings have a right to sit in judgement over what is safe is and what is not. “The final call will have to be taken by the central agencies,” he said.

DegreesIndia Inc on Thursday(10th Aug, 2006) backed cola majors Pepsico and Coca Cola, which are facing a ban from several states over pesticide found in their products, saying 'arbitrary, avoidable action has caused unnecessary panic' and cautioned the states against taking any hasty decisions.

Kerala banned production and sale of colas of both Coca Cola and Pepsico. However Kerala High Court overturned a ban on the production and sale of Coca-Cola and Pepsi soft drinks in a ruling on 22nd September 2006, but state officials said they would seek ways to challenge the decision.

Karnataka had on Wednesday decided (9th Aug, 2006)to ban sale of Coca Cola and Pepsi in educational institutions and hospitals, while Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat have already banned the sale of the two colas in educational institutions and government offices.

Products of Pepsico and Coke have been banned in India by many state governments following the findings of Centre for Science and Environment's study that said colas manufactured by these companies contained pesticides above the permissible limits.
