Shilpa Shetty Biography
Shilpa Shetty is an Bollywood actress whose fame trippled with her appearance in Big Brother Reality show. In the show another cotestant Jade aired racist remarks on Shipla Shetty which became a big dabate. Eventually Shipla win the show. Shilpa Shetty was born to Surendra and Sunanda Shetty in Karnataka, India on June 8, 1975. Shilpa Shetty's native language is Tulu. She can also speak in English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, Tamil, and can understand a little French. Her younger sister Shamita Shetty is a budding Bollywood actress.
She attended St. Anthony Girls' High School in Chembur and then went to Podar College. She was the captain of the baseball team and has earned a black belt in Karate. She is one of Bollywood's tallest actresses and currently resides in Mumbai. Shilpa Shetty is an AIDS activist, and a PETA supporter.
Shilpa Shetty's first film Bazzigar was released in 1993. She was a supporting actress in that film, however the film was a big hit and Shilpa Shetty was noticed for her role. She was seen in Dus where her role was lost among the presence of heroes like Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek and Zayed Khan. Then came Fareb, her last film that disappeared without a trace at the box office.
Shipla Shetty was a guest judge on the popular Indian Idol television show during 2004.
Shilpa Shetty in Celebrity Big Brother
Shetty is a contestant in Celebrity Big Brother UK 2007. She is the first Indian to participate in Celebrity Big Brother. Shipla Shetty is the first Bollywood actress to participate in the popular reality show, and was the sixth person to enter the house. She was reportedly paid Rs.31.5m (about £367,500) for her participation. She wore a pink sari when entering the house and said to presenter Davina McCall, "I just want every Indian to be extremely proud that I'm in here". Shipla shetty is also courting some major controversy in the newspapers back in India at the moment for some obscene pics where you can quite clearly see her stomach.
Shilpa Shetty wins Celebrity Big Brother
Shilpa was crowned the winner of the British Celebrity Big Brother on 28 January 2007 with 63% of the final vote, becoming the first Indian to win the contest. She will be the subject of a one-off documentary "The Real Shilpa Shetty", produced by British television production company Twofour for Sky Oneto be broadcast in March.
This will will benefit Shilpa Shetty more in endorsement terms and Hollywood assignments, rather than films in India. The large number of commercial offers that Shilpa received after winning Celebrity Big Brother themselves became reason for controversy with an increasing number of accusations about her riding the 'racism' wave to commercial gain.
