What is talent Show?
In recent years, television talent hunt shows have been a huge draw, elevating many of its participants to celebrity status. Often participants attain instant celibrity status. In most cases the winners of the show are decided by views vote. Television rating points are a major factor in deciding the popularity of such events.
In contrary some says that winners are decided by popular vote and genuine talent is often overlooked. When asked in a poll if TRP-driven music talent hunt shows promote genuine talent, a whopping 76 per cent felt that these shows don't promote genuine talent while 21 per cent felt these shows did highlight talent. Some feel these shows put popularity over talent as popularity is rewarded in these shows and real talent is overshadowed. Often TRP-driven music talent hunt shows don't promote genuine talent.
Who decides the winner?
In most teletalent shows viewers votes determine the promotion to the next level and the ultimate winner. This is where the catch is. Evaluating a singer should better be left to trained singers/musicians, and not general public. We need to remember the saying 'what's popular is not always right'."
The debate on whether these shows truly bring genuine talent to the fore will continue, but what is clear is that year after year youngsters from all over the country are making a beeline for these shows.
